The Dow High Charger Varsity Baseball Team swept a doubleheader from Freeland Friday evening at the Dow High Outdoor Athletic Complex.  The first game was a 13-3 6 inning mercy and game 2 ended with a 7-1 Charger victory.  In Game one Billy Van Sumeren started on the mound going 2 1/3 innings he gave up 3 runs with 2 being earned on 5 hits and striking out 1.  Jack Bakus took the mound for the rest of the game going 3 2/3 innings and blanking Freeland the rest of the way and picking up the win for Dow High.  Bakus struck out 3 Falcons during his outing.  The Chargers were led offensively by Logan McCoy who provided 3 hits in 3 at bats and scored 3 runs knocking in 3 runs.  Ryan Erdmann was 2 for 4 and had 2 rbi's.  Jack Bakus provided 2 hits for the game.

Dow got another strong pitching performance from the bullpen with John Szajenko coming in relief of Nolan Sanders and providing 5 innings and only giving up 1 run on 3 hits and striking out 2.  Sanders started the game and went 2 innings and allowing a run to Freeland.  Logan McCoy provided some more pop in his bat in game 2 going 2 for 3 with 4 rbi's.  Ryan Erdmann added a pair of hits and Ryan Murphy and Caleb Brenske each knocked in a run.

" This was a great bounce back day after a poor offensive showing in game 2 last night.  I thought our team came out fast in game 1 and we got great pitching performances from Bakus and Szajenko today.  These two games give us something to build on as our team saw the value of situational hitting.  Everyone picked each other up and there was good spirit in our dugout.  Freeland is a really good offensive team and I was impressed with their pitching.  They are going to go a long way in their division.  I was happy with the way we played to keep them from consistently scoring and we really had a nice offensive day." said Coach Juday.

The Chargers will host Davison on Monday May 3 for a doubleheader starting at 4:00
